A three story, 36,000+ s.f. annex, plus an additional 8,500 s.f. rooftop play area, is being added to Abraham Lincoln Elementary School in the affluent Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. The school is responding to overcrowding, but the cost of the project has generated some controversy in the community.
[threecol_two]Neighbors objected that they were not consulted on the construction plans, and a town meeting about the issue ended in a fist fight. Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel helped support the plan, and it will likely cost $20 million when complete.
